Congratulations Oak Hill "Stars"

May 2006

Al Dixon, Security Guard.
Al Dixon joined Oak Hill Hospital in 1988 in our security department and has been there ever since. Al and his wife Sharon have two grown sons and four grandchildren. He and Sharon live in Hudson. Al's nomination stated that Al always goes above and beyond the call of duty. "Whatever we need, whenever we need it, Al is always ready and willing to help. He takes care of the hospital inside and out." Al has been continuously nominated as for the Star Award and has been selected as an Oak Hill Hospital Star more than once. After 18 years Al believes it's obvious that he likes the people he works with here at Oak Hill Hospital.

Jackie Melendez, Phlebotomist.
Jackie joined the lab as a phlebotomist in April of 2002 and has been working there ever since. She and her husband John, her mother Evelyn, and her son Christopher and his family all live in Spring Hill. Her son Christopher is married to Danielle and they have a grandson, Dominic. Jackie says that her family means everything to her. Jackie truly takes pride in her work as a phlebotomist. She says, "I try to make having blood drawn as easy as tying your shoe." Her nomination came from a patient who said, "She was excellent and found my vein immediately. Her humor made me laugh so I didn't even feel the needle. She's the type of associate that makes this hospital shine." Jackie says that she really enjoys when she puts a smile on someone else's face and makes them giggle before leaving her room.

Christian Campbell, RN.
Christian joined Oak Hill Hospital's telemetry floor in July of 2004. He, his wife, and two girls live in Spring Hill. His nomination came from a patient who praised him as "an outstanding young man." The nomination went on to say, "my father was under Christian's care while on the fifth floor for observation. He became disoriented and was a handful not hearing and not understanding the language, yet Christian treated my father with respect and dignity. Christian even went as far as calling me at home so that I could explain the next procedure to my father. With all the hospital experiences my parents and I have had, I can honestly say that I have never met a nurse like Christian." When told of his selection as a Star he was quick to pass on the compliment to his director. He said, "Debbie is the glue that holds our team together!"
